Taj Hotel Holiday Village, Candelim, Goa. Relaxing in a paradise of flowering trees.
Today we arrive at the Taj hotel Holiday Village, another tropical paradise in Candelim, Goa, set amidst lush trees and bushes. This is Southern India along the ocean, you can feel the ocean air.
We stay in one of the many bungalows set in a tree lined area, with blooming Bougainvillas, and Frangipani trees enveloping us with their sweet scent, a beautiful cool room with tile flooring. We stay in the bungalow to cool down.
The grounds are a tropical paradise. I see flowers I have not seen before.
This one looks like a sea creature, but it is hanging from a large bush.
In the late afternoon we take a walk to the pool and along the ocean. On this picture you can see the Taj Exotica Hotel Fort Aguado on the hillside. In the next few days we also stay at the Taj Exotica Fort Aguado. Read my post.
In the evening we go to the restaurant La Caravella, for dinner.
La Caravella, named after the boat of Portugese explorer, Vasco da Gamma, who sailed to these shores on his way to China, is one of 3 restaurants on this property.
La Caravella sits right on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, We could sit on the terrace or inside. In the evening the cove with all the lights from the Fort Agaudo hotel look really magical.
The open kitchen at La Caravella.
The dining area at La Caravella.
View to the terrace overlooking the cove at night.
The open kitchen is quite a show. Dishes are prepared right in front of your eyes. We eat mostly fish, here as it is freshly caught. The spices used here are also quite different from the North, the Rajastan area.
The wooden skeleton of the thatched roof of the open inside dining area looks like the spine of an upturned ship. There is a large bar that looks like the rounded stirn of a ship.
Later a small band is playing, the singer has a good voice, some people are dancing. This feels good...
