In my blog post you saw and read about the fabulous over the top One Million Flower décor.
I think by now you have probably seen pictures of the collection and had a chance to see some of the creations of Raf Simmons. This was his inaugural collection for Dior, and his idea to be inspired by the New Look collection of Christian Dior in the mid 50s is wonderful and in my opinion very appropriate.
Raf Simons collection for Dior 2012, is a great nod to the original creator, who showed and inspired women to be feminine again, after the austerity years of WWII. Not just Couture collections were inspired by Dior’s New Look at the time, his expression of new found femininity trickled down to “home made sewn” clothes, who suddenly had a new approach to allow women to be interested in beauty and fashion again. It was the beginning of a whole new “Self expression” for women.
It is a great idea, to take a look back, a reverence and hommage to the founder, Monsieur Christian Dior, while taking a step forward, point to the new much needed direction for the fashion house.
See details and much more in my other posts.
Enjoy,
Jasmin
