The giant Lotus Bahai Temple

We walk inside the temple, sit under the center of the lotus. Today our driver takes us to the Bahai Temple, also called the lotus temple.

Very impressive as we approach. We drive through the hustle of busy streets with shops and so many people and cars, then off in the distance we glimpse the giant lotus, made of grey concrete, sitting silently surrounded by green fields and trees. For me, in a way it was the same approach than the Taj Mahal. The monument lies in majestic beauty, awaiting the visitor.

Built in the shape of a giant white lotus set on 7 pools of water, an incredible approach on a hill side in New Delhi, the more modern part of Delhi surrounded by shops and markets and big chaos. We walk into the temple and sit quietly for a while taking in the sights, the roof construction of the 9 interlocking leaves, made from concrete with a skin of white tile.

The 9 sides or leaves of the lotus symbolize the 9 faiths and religions of the world.
