Coachella! Vibe not Cliché. I felt inspired by Coachella, eagerly awaiting the annual festival. It is Spring, fun, festive, go with the flow, flirt, and more.
I like the unique Hippie inspired vibe that says Care Free Living, it is not just for Millenials, and Teens, for me, it translates into a casual Look that makes my heart feel light and airy, young and happy. Perfect for the desert environment here in the Coachella Valley almost every day. I wear what makes my happy, this Look takes me into Summer.
Far from being a run-way show, this is a reality run-way, a festival of fashion with its own run-way stars. Express your personal style is the game, in endless variations and color, to accentuate the vibe.
Yet, many still don’t seem to look beyond the Cliché, or even confuse the venue with Halloween. Furry animal head gear, or feathers taken from an Indian Head dress, is just not cool.
H&M had a fun Pop-up Shop for spur of the moment inspiration that Fashionistas, who didn’t get enough in at the H&M shop at the mall, could browse, or buy another outfit on the spot.
The H&M Coachella collection, is full of ethnic fabric prints, lace dresses, wrap dresses, short eyelet skirts, maxi dresses, party dresses with wide ruffles in bold prints, shirts, extra tops.
An off-the-shoulder blouse paired with embroidered shorts. A maxi skirt in a soft flowing fabric with a loose fitting top looks the part. I saw so many tunics, often over short skirts or shorts. The many different jumpsuits, often with a maxi jacket in a bright pattern, reminded me of the 70s, also fun for layering, when a cool breeze hit.

My curated Looks for you
Lot’s of body paint this year, flash tattoos, neon colors just as accent. Liked the creative use of lace when applied on a classic denim jacket or when it looks almost like a tattoo on a sheer top.
Oh, just one more Cliché, I was tired of seeing: neon colored hair, blue, green, pink, purple.
Not a good Flower Girl Look. Coachella, just as Woodstock was back then, is a celebration of music, art, togetherness and joy. Punk is a different vibe. Anger and Rebellion. It is not even Glam Punk, that’s another venue for another time.
Enjoy,
Jasmin
