In the spotlight, Ugly Chic as in the MET exhibit channeling the 70s with Deer?
Ugly Chic as described by the Imaginary Conversations between Prada and Schiaparelli in the MET exhibit some time ago has it's own appeal. Just not for me. I bring to you these impressions from the Gucci store at Mall of the Emirates, Dubai.
I like many things Gucci shows for Fall, the folklore inspired dresses and blouses with wide blousy arms, the hippie flower dresses, this is just too far. Who want's to wear these slingbacks with furry inside? Or the furry clogs with the leather strap. Ugly! Especially in Dubai? May be planning a vacation in wintery Lappland?
Surely the comic side of these creations can be appreciated.
Makes you feel as if you went back to Nature, embraced hand-made... live in the forest, hopefully Luxe accommodations. May be I just didn't get the Adam & Eve snake with the fur clogs?
Another view from the store window. Geometric pattern 70s inspired coat and other dresses, jackets, sweaters were presented on a Dry-Cleaner Carousel. Not just the odd 70s pattern, the whole display in the store had a disconnect with reality.
I felt as if I was in a vintage shop on Melrose Ave. LA with 70s fashion on display. You had to take a number of the items that went by in front of your eyes, to see it later and try it on. Every item appeared and disappeared in rapid succession. It definitely had a feeling of Art Installation, Art in the Store. I can appreciate that. But really why? This doesn't feel very Luxe.
