More ancient living quarters on the park grounds. The area has a large park with housing for the ruler, a separate palace for the women. Some of the buildings are now a museum, with artifacts and textiles from various time periods on display. The view from the grounds is awesome.

The area has a large park with housing for the ruler, a separate palace for women. His private palace is architecturally intricate, white marble with elaborate carvings. We take the time to stroll though the beautiful gardens and to get a glimspe of a time long past.

Woman sweeping at an old palace.

In this detail of the inlaid flower, you can see very different style flower patterns in inlaid carvings,

compared to the style found in Agra, at the Taj, and in Radjastan. We stroll some more through the gardens, I see Dahlias as big as a small plate and think how small they are back home, incredible the colors! A white marble temple at the distance.

Later we are driven to the area around the Imperial Hotel. Diplomatic Circle. We take a stroll along the arcades at Connaught Place. This area is so full of history, some of the bloody history before the independence in 1947. We will be back to Connaught Place to see more and to have lunch at the Diplomat Hotel's fun restaurant, The Olive.

See the photos of The Olive restaurant at Diplomat Hotel on my next post.

Enjoy,

Jasmin
