When I read about the passing of Sean Connery sadness came over me. The world had lost something precious. Even though we did not know him personally, we all knew him as James Bond.
He was the best Bond. The most elegant, the most suave, the most exciting, the most courageous, a lady’s man with a punch. Nobody hunted the bad guys better.
I remember him best in Thunderball, set in the mid 1960s, the tuxedo, the dance scene with Domino, the scenes at the casino, then the diving scenes, who could resist his charme in that diving outfit.
He shall be missed but not forgotten. I still have most of the best James Bond films on DVR. Goldfinger, From Russia with Love, and yes, my favorite Thunderball.
I can just imagine him standing next to his Austin Martin, leaning against the car, looking straight into the camera, as if he just says:
“…Just come along for the ride…”
Now, I can tell myself, …he will be right back…”
Lucky for me.
Sean James Bond Forever.
