view of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur in the fadinge haze from our hotel, the Double Tree Hotel KL.
Arrived in Kuala Lumpur, just in time to be greeted by the tail end of the all enveloping haze that whafted through the city in the last few days (brush fires from Sumatra seem to have caused all this smoke and haze), the picture shows the impressive Petronas Towers in the back ground just barely.
The haze lasted a few days then nightly thunderstorms cleared the air. It was quite exciting to watch the lightning from our room. This photo shows the view from our room in the Doubletree Hotel around the Ampang Park area during the rain.
In the next few days, the fire induced smoke has lifted, the sun shine has returned, I am able to discover the neighborhoods, the stunning high rises, some historical sites and get to know some of the charming Malay culture. The modern buildings rise far above the older more traditional buildings. The city is in the midst of a building boom with new high rises, hotels and condo buildings. Outside the center of KL new towns with very modern infrastructure, offices, living areas are built at the moment.
I am busy to take in the sights, the dynamic modern parts of this city, the incredible seemingly endless shopping areas with fashion, designers from all over the world, the traditional Looks and fabrics.
More to see and read about my new discoveries soon... Watch for posts in Get Set to Jet! for impressions of KL and Fashion Talk! to see my impressions of KLs elegant shopping center Pavillions in Bukit Bintang.
Enjoy,
Jasmin
