If you are in Madrid in these last days of Summer, you have the opportunity to see the exhibit about the great couturier, Cristóbal Balenciaga. The influence of his work on other designers is still apparent today. His fashion house, Balenciaga, now infused with new talent, is still a symbol of elegance today.
This retrospective, one of several in the past, at the Museo del Traje (Museum of clothes) in Madrid, can be seen until 16 Sept 2012. "Mirar y Pensar Balenciaga" (See and Think Balenciaga)
The exhibit features photographs by Manuel Outumuro, (from 1935 to 1968) most of the couture shown is owned by La Fundación Cristóbal Balenciaga.
I show some photos from Balenciaga.com, La Maison Balenciaga, Heritage, fashion site, the Vicoria & Albert Museum, London, and the Met in New York.
