One of my favorite places in the heart of Bern, to meet friends, have an Espresso in the early afternoon, or a cocktail in the late afternoon is Aerni.

The concept of beauty, SPA, salon, boutique, bar and a hip place to meet your friends in the afternoon in a modern, trendy space is great. Before browsing the unique brands of fashions, sampling the Ligne St. Barth beauty products and Eau de Toilette, I can relax, have a hair cut and a manicure. Then, when I feel all beautiful my friends arrive, we have a cocktail and a chat.

The mostly black and white space has a rhythm feel, lots of chrome, love the big modern whimsical chandeliers, reminds my of a Dale Chahuly sculpture, steel instead of glas. The white orchids and polished black rocks add a balance to the man made shapes.

Of course, Aerni is also a special events destination. Several events, mostly presentations of fashion, designers whose lignes are sold at Aerni, or events with a Resort focus are the destination for an evening in Bern. Of course, the Ligne St. Barth is mostly sold on St. Barth. I first saw it there, when I stayed on St. Barth in 2008.

The curved white chairs, added just for Summer fun, big white sculptural faces, in the outdoor seating area, are such a statement. A great surprise when you come around the corner and see 3 mask like faces on the ground.

Definitely a must see and have an Espresso, when I am spending the day in Bern. www.aenibern.ch
